Is it painting or photography? Jakub Dolejš incorporated qualities of the former into the latter.
His latest solo exhibit at Angell Gallery in Toronto pays
homage to Johan Zoffany’s painting, also entitled Tribune
English painter Zoffany (1735-1810) studied in Italy for a dozen years. Eventually he became the court painter to the British Royals and as such received
a commission from Queen Charlotte to paint the Florence Gallery named Tribuna: the Francesco de Medici designed octagonal room in the Uffizi. English artists, such as
Zoffany, travelled to Italy to study and learn from the Italian masters.
Jakub Dolejš explained his version of Tribune, "I'm interested in 18th Century history and this is the result." Adding, "it's the brink of the modern era when art changed!"

"Those are the trees my Dad planted about 30 years ago," as Alex Cameron explains
Through the Red Pines, which is currently on display at the Moore Gallery in Toronto. "It's the last one I painted for the show
where I have ten acres near the Ottawa River.
With the landscapes I try to make them as colorful as possible though I
also try to make them different than they really are, adding
another visual kind of dimension to it."
Many of his works are reflective of Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven. Alex acknowledges this,
"I grew up around Parry Sound. Tom Thomson's landscapes were outside my front door."
Cameron paints both landscapes and abstracts.
